Title: Multipart Inscriptions'
This is an EpiDoc UserStory''
- Originator(s): ChrisLilley
- Associated Bug/Feature Request(s):
- Markup List subject line(s)
Summary
- Some supports have multiple, unrelated inscriptions (clearly, separate epidoc files for these). However, some have a single inscription split into multiple parts - for example a dedication on the front face of an altar and a list of subscribers on the sides. How to indicate this?
Examples
- CIL 06, 31140 = Denkm 003 (relevant part below)
C(aio) Serio Augurino C(aio) Trebio /
Sergiano co(n)s(ulibus) l(ibentes) l(aeti) /
m(erito) v(otum) s(olverunt) // { and then on the left side, from 103 }
divo Traiano V c[o(n)s(ule)] /
M(arcus) Ulp(ius) Iulius /
Dependencies and rules
- Clear guidance in the guidelines for what to do with change of face. InsAph uses <cb/> to subdivide all kinds of multi-part texts, fragments, etc., in addition to division of <ab> or <div> whenever possible/useful.
Questions
- CL suggests one epidoc file with multiple <ab> elements, identifed by id?
- GB observes: Some texts, however, require text-flow across such a break, so a milestone element is needed on the same principles as for <lb/>. (Possibly something other than InsAph's rather crude <cb/>, however.)
Acceptance Tests
